About Us

About Us

The Marshalltown Area United Way (MAUW) was established in 1929 under the moniker of Greater Marshalltown Community Chest to raise funds in a united appeal for the operating expenses of community-accepted charitable, health welfare, and character-building agencies. Marshalltown Area United Way became affiliated with the United Way of America in 1962. Since then, MAUW has been leading the fight for healthy community, youth opportunity, and financial security for every person in our community.

We believe these are the building blocks for a good quality of life. United Way recruit's individuals and organizations who bring passion, expertise, and resources needed to get things done. You're invited to be a part of the change. You can give, you can advocate, and you can volunteer. UNITED is the WAY.

Our Mission

Through United Way, communities tackle tough challenges and work with private, public, and nonprofit partners to boost education, economic mobility, health resources, and community resiliency.

2025 United Way Worldwide Membership Certification

Annually, all United Ways complete the United Way Worldwide Membership Certification to verify their adherence to standards that include comprehensive requirements for financial reporting, governance, ethics, diversity, and operations. This process is vital as it demonstrates our integrity and ongoing commitment to our donors, volunteers, and community members.

We are thrilled to announce that the Marshalltown Area United Way has once again successfully completed the 2025 Membership Certification through United Way Worldwide! These rigorous standards ensure that every United Way organization operates with transparency, accountability, and excellence in order to carry the United Way name and logo.

This accomplishment reflects the dedication and teamwork of our staff, board members, and volunteers who work diligently year-round to maintain these high standards. We remain committed to upholding these values and to continuing our mission of improving lives and strengthening our community.
