About Us
The Marshalltown Area United Way (MAUW) was established in 1929 under the moniker of Greater Marshalltown Community Chest to raise funds in a united appeal for the operating expenses of community-accepted charitable, health welfare, and character-building agencies. Marshalltown Area United Way became affiliated with the United Way of America in 1962. Since then, MAUW has been leading the fight for healthy community, youth opportunity, and financial security for every person in our community.
We believe these are the building blocks for a good quality of life. United Way recruit's individuals and organizations who bring passion, expertise, and resources needed to get things done. You're invited to be a part of the change. You can give, you can advocate, and you can volunteer. UNITED is the WAY.
Our Mission
Through United Way, communities tackle tough challenges and work with private, public, and nonprofit partners to boost education, economic mobility, and health resources. Marshalltown Area United Way provides a mechanism to encourage charitable giving and facilitate the distribution of gifts to partner agencies that will enhance the quality of life for all Marshall County residents.

2023 Worldwide Membership Certification
Annually, all United Ways complete the United Way Worldwide Membership Certification to verify their adherence to standards that include comprehensive requirements for financial reporting, governance, ethics, diversity, and operations. This year there were 13 sections to complete, and the reporting was extensive. However, it's important as it reflects our integrity and commitment to our donors, volunteers, and community members.
