- Each year around the beginning to mid-January there is an allocation process.
- Prior to allocations, MAUW board members study their assigned agencies audited budget reports, visit agencies, and review the agency's grants requests and how their programs/ services align with the current needs of the community.
- Then at allocation each partner agency presents to a panel consisting of MAUW Board of Directors to communicate any changes or barriers they are facing.
- Board members ask additional questions that require clarification to make certain that funds go where they are needed the most.
- All United Way supported charities are tax-exempt, not-for-profit health and human service providers, and classified as 501(c)3 by the Internal Revenue Service.
